Status Quo- A Study on Erosion (2026), installation, found object, performance
The in-situu installation was part of the Bring An Umbrella collective exhibition at Punct. Artist-Run Space, takling the issues that small artist spaces face, including rain damage; featuring a tarpaulin which used to catch rain inside the building, hanged up and filled with rainwater. The string part of the installation tied the walls, the table and the rain in a single visual complex. The four hour performance consisted of dipping pieces of paper in the rainwater, and documenting a long train of thoughts in writting, letting the ink diffuse in an attempt of the artist to communicate with the natural element.
”Performance as a study of erosion and the feelings that come with it; the water transforms, erases the memory, fragments the anthropic traces on the space. Fighting the unpredictability of natural elements is futile, so a different view is proposed: embracing the cohesion between artist and the nature that shapes one's environment, not seeing water not only as a destructive force, but as an alive, conscious being that records the passage of time, that is a substance that is not wasted, but it reinvents itself throughout history, to communicate with it and find inspiration. ” A.C.
